Sponsor an Adoption

" No Matter how little money and how few possessions,
you own, having a dog makes you rich."

~ Louis Sabin

Who will benefit?

Older Adults

Mother&dogSome research suggests that older adults benefit from pet ownership in various ways. Among other things, older adults who own pets may get more exercise and, as a result, may be more mobile and run a lower risk of disability than adults who don't own pets. Studies have found that dog owners are more likely to walk, walk further and walk more often than people who don't own dogs. Other studies have found that just petting a dog can lower blood-pressure!

Some older adults simply do not have the initial funds for the adoption fees. You can provide that with your special gift.

Those who live alone

The companionship of a dog is like no other. A person living alone will have a fuller and often healthier life when shared with a loving pet. Science is showing that the relationship between humans and their pets isn't as one-sided as it may seem. As people take care of their companion animals, researchers have found, the animals are taking care of their owners! In these days when it so often takes two incomes in the household to make ends meet, many singles may not be able to pay the initial cost of adoption. You can help.

Children

There is something almost magical about a child's relationship with a pet. Pets can enhance a child’s self esteem, provide unconditional friendship, and help them learn about care and responsibility. Sometimes parents have to say "no" to a child's plea for a pet because they aren't able to afford the $50 adoption fee. Your gift will bring a smile to a child's face and give him memories that last a lifetime. Anyone who had a pet as a child has never forgotten those wonderful years and the pet who filled them!

A Homeless Animal

Have you ever noticed how little a dog asks of its owner? Just some food, water, a place to sleep, an occasional pat on the head and he will do anything for you. He’ll guard you while you sleep, protect you with his very life. We’ve all heard the stories of the faithful canine that lays at his dying master’s side, licking his wounds. Yes, dogs are special. They have a need for companionship. They want to please and they want to be free to run and play!

How does Sponsoring an Adoption work?

Your donation of $50 will assist in the adoption of one of our pets by a person who wants the companionship of a dog and will give him a loving forever home but cannot immediately afford the adoption fee. Your gift will provide the first round of shots, worming and spay/neuter costs.

Contact the adoption manager for more information or send your $50 donation to the address below with a note designating the gift to be used for "Sponsoring an Adoption."
